Antifreeze is a product that when diluted in water, results in a coolant whose primary function is to protect a system by dissipating heat to keep the system at the optimum working temperature. Sulphur-containing additives are used in lubricating oils, hydraulic fluids, metalworking fluids and greases to provide extreme pressure (EP) and anti-wear (AW) properties. Their activity depends largely on the sulphur content and the type of sulphur compound.

Tackifiers, also known as adhesive
enhancers or film-forming agents, are additives that provide two types of properties to the lubricants or greases in which they are incorporated. Due to the chemical bonds that exist between the different atoms, they can bring a power of adhesion (on the surface where they are applied) or a power of cohesion.

Polyalphaolefins (PAO) are non-polar synthetic lubricant bases (polymerised oils) classified in group IV according to the API lubricant base categories. PAOs are commonly used in engine oils (also for electric vehicles), hydraulics, compressors, gears and bearings, which operate in extreme temperature environments. They are also used in wind generators and as lubricant bases for grease formulation.
